It’s still fairly early in the season, but Kent State is already racking up the individual awards.
For the second time in their first nine games, a member of the Golden Flashes was selected MAC East Player of the Week.
This time, it was junior point guard Kellon Thomas — who paced the Flashes to a 3-0 record last week by averaging 18.3 points and 3.3 assists.
In the process, Thomas made several clutch plays to keep Kent (7-2) looking like one of the top mid-major outfits in the country.
Flashes forward and leading scorer Jimmy Hall was named East Player of the Week earlier this season.
Akron center Pat Forsythe won the award last week.
Kent State returns to action Dec. 22 vs. nationally ranked SMU at the Continental Tire Classic in Las Vegas.
