Free-agent forward Markieff Morris has agreed to sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to Shams Charania of Stadium.
Morris, 29, was traded by the Washington Wizards to the New Orleans Pelicans last week. The Pelicans immediately waived him.
(UPDATE: The Thunder have made the signing official.)
According to reports, Morris had been considering the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and Toronto Raptors along with the Thunder.
He has been sidelined since early January with upper back stiffness. Before that, Morris averaged 11.5 points and 5.1 rebounds in 34 games with the Wizards.
“It’s not clear whether or not the Thunder will sign Morris right away,” Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors wrote. “Postponing the transaction until after the All-Star break would create some savings on OKC’s cap and projected tax bill, so if Morris is on board with it, the club may wait.”
The Thunder on Thursday announced the signings of big man Richard Solomon and swingman Scotty Hopson, both from their G-League affiliate, also in OKC.
