General manager Bower fired by Pistons

Jeff Bower was let go from his position as Pistons' general manager at the end of last season.

The Detroit Pistons have fired general manager Jeff Bower, according to ESPN.

Bower was part of the Stan Van Gundy regime, as Bower reported to the former coach and president of basketball operations. Van Gundy was fired shortly after the season, leaving Bower in limbo.

The writing was probably on the wall after the Pistons hired Ed Stefanski as the team’s senior adviser.

As ESPN reported, “Bower has been a GM for two playoff franchises, as well an an NBA and NCAA head coach.”

Bower coached the New Orleans Pelicans to a 34-39 record in 2009-10 season in an interim role, after he fired coach Byron Scott.
