Kings adding former Suns coach Kokoskov as assistant

Former Suns coach Igor Kokoskov is joining Luke Walton's staff with the Suns.

The Sacramento Kings are hiring former Phoenix Suns coach Igor Kokoskov as an assistant on Luke Walton’s staff, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Kokoskov, 47, coached the Suns for just this past season, the team tying the Cleveland Cavaliers for the league’s second-worst record at 19-63.

Before that, Kokoskov had spent time as an NBA assistant on and off since 2000 with the Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit Pistons and most recently, Utah Jazz.

He was head coach of the Slovenian national team in 2016-17.

Kokskov was in the running for the Memphis Grizzlies head-coaching vacancy, before the team hired Taylor Jenkins, previously an assistant with the Milwaukee Bucks.
