Latest: Blatt, Lakers, Walton, Rockets

David Blatt is reporrtedly a candidate for several NBA vacancies.

The Lakers plan to interview former Cavaliers coach David Blatt for their coaching vacancy, according to ESPN.

Blatt has also interviewed for the Knicks job, per multiple reports.

The Cavs are the only NBA team Blatt has coached after he spent a couple decades overseas. He led the Cavs to the Finals last year and compiled a 30-11 record in 2015-16.

Meanwhile, the Lakers have also received, and been granted, permission to speak with Warriors assistant Luke Walton, the ESPN reports.

The Rockets have also been granted permission to speak with Walton, per ESPN.

The Rockets have not ruled out keeping free-agent-to-be Dwight Howard, “but that would be part of a larger plan and would depend greatly on their choice of coach,” per the Houston Chronicle.

The Magic, Bucks, Hornets and Trail Blazers are said to be the favorites to land Howard should he decide to move on, per ESPN.

The Kings have asked permission to interview Pacers assistant Nate McMillan for their head coaching vacancy, per CSN Chicago.

The Kings have also expressed interest in Walton, USC coach Henry Bibby and Grizzlies assistant Elston Turner, per the Sacramento Bee.

The Kings are also closing in on hiring Pistons executive Ken Catanella as assistant GM, per ESPN.
