Report: Cavs in pursuit of Clippers’ Jordan, Williams

The Cleveland Cavaliers have interest in acquiring Los Angeles Clippers guard Lou Williams and center DeAndre Jordan, according to a report from The New York Times.

Williams is averaging 23.2 points per game on the season and has established himself as one of the best shot-makers in the league.

Jordan, meanwhile, has been on the Cavs’ radar for awhile, as Cleveland is looking to upgrade its big man position by getting more athletic and better defensively.

The New York Times is reporting J.R. Smith and Tristan Thompson have been mentioned as the possible trade candidates from Cleveland’s side, but the Cavs are not entertaining any offers for the coveted 2018 Brooklyn Nets pick.

The Cavs are also reportedly going after Sacramento Kings point guard George Hill.

According to AmicoHoops sources, the Cavs could be floating a deal of Channing FryeDerrick Rose and Iman Shumpert for Hill.

  1. Its right about now that I wish Gilbert had had the good sense to hire some former pros to run our front office.

I know he likes company men. But this is basketball. We need basketball guys in there. Vision, insight, experience, experience with the game itself.

Grant Hill. Kenny Smith. Mike Fratello. There are a million intelligent basketball guys out there with a vision for what is needed to make a winning team. Chauncy Billups wasnt the only guy available.

  2. As much as I love the idea of getting Deandre Jordan (and Williams), I prefer the idea of getting Kemba Walker and Dwight Howard. We are going to need to deal our Brooklyn pick in either deal, so I’d rather go with the younger 27 year old Kemba Walker and Dwight Howard. Kemba’s defense alone on opposing PG’s is worth this deal. You add a physical presence like Dwight Howard to our starting lineup, which allows Love to play PF, and WOW, we all of the sudden look pretty damn good defensively. Trade the Brooklyn pick, Thompson, Thomas & Shumpert – get back Walker & Howard. It’s a no-brainer. (salaries are a perfect match) This trade also frees up a roster spot to sign another player, possibly a buyout candidate or other available free agent.

    • Even better yet, let’s make Charlotte swap MKG with Crowder. Idk about you guys, but I’m getting sick of watching Crowder chuck 3’s, get swatted at the rim and play bad defense. Time to send Crowder packing along with Thomas, Thompson and Shump.
