San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard will miss the preseason with right quadriceps tendinopathy, the team announced in a press release.
There is no timeline for his return — though Leonard could potentially return in time for the Spurs’ regular-season opener Oct. 18 vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Leonard, 26, is a 6-foot-7 small forward and widely regarded as the Spurs’ best player. He averaged 25.5 points and 5.8 rebounds in 74 games last season, all while typically defending opposing teams’ best wing players.
Leonard did not participate in the Spurs’ scrimmage Saturday.
