Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki suggested he may help out his favorite team in this year’s NBA draft.
“Maybe I’ll be in the draft room this year, if that’s what it takes,” Nowitzki told Mavs.com. “I think we’ve got plenty of time over the next few weeks to set a plan, execute the plan on draft day hopefully and maybe in free agency, and we’ll go from there.”
The Mavericks are playing the lottery for the first time in what seems like 100 years — thanks largely to the play of Nowitzki, widely regarded as the best player in franchise history.
Nowitzki, who turns 39 years old in June, plans to play at least next season, and perhaps beyond.
