Burke backs out of possible Thunder deal

Trey Burke has agreed to a contract with the Knicks.

Free agent point guard Trey Burke has reversed course on a potential contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder and decided to remain a free agent, Yahoo Sports reported.

Burke had been finalizing a deal with OKC just a few hours after the team had traded for New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony.

No reason for his decision to change course was given.

Burke, 24, spent last season with the Washington Wizards. The team did not extend Burke a qualifying offer, sending him into free agency in July.

He would’ve been competing for minutes with Raymond Felton as the primary backup for All-Star point guard Russell Wetsbrook.
