The Orlando Magic have traded guard Elfrid Payton to the Phoenix Suns for a second-round draft pick, according to a report from ESPN.
The pick Phoenix is sending in the deal is a 2018 second-rounder from the Memphis Grizzlies, per the report.
Payton, 23, is in his fourth NBA season.
“Although Payton is posting career highs in scoring (13.0 points per game), field-goal percentage (.520) and 3-point shooting percentage (.373), he doesn’t stretch opposing defenses because of his reputation as a subpar shooter,” wrote the Orlando Sentinel. “His defense at the point of attack also has been a major issue.”
The NBA trade deadline expired at 3 p.m. Thursday.
