Former No. 1 overall draft pick and Philadelphia 76ers forward Ben Simmons has been cleared for full basketball activity, and actually has been for some time, according to a report from the Bucks County Courier Times.
Simmons is 6-foot-10 and was drafted first overall in 2016. He missed all of last season with a broken foot.
Meanwhile, the Courier Times also reported that Sixers center Joel Embiid has not yet been cleared to resume full-court action. Embiid missed his first 2 1/2 years following two foot surgeries, before getting on the floor and making a case for NBA Rookie of the Year last season. However, Embiid’s season ended early when he suffered a torn left meniscus.
The Sixers anticipate Embiid will be available for the season-opener Oct. 18 at Washington, league sources told Amico Hoops. The 7-footer averaged 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and a whopping 2.5 blocked shots in 31 games last season.
