Covington, Sixers reportedly near extension

Sixers forward Robert Covington is shooting 50 percent on 3-pointers so far this season.

The Philadelphia 76ers are expected to agree to a contract extension with forward Robert Covington, according to a report from The New York Times.

According to Marc Stein of The Times, the sides are closing in on a deal. It will reportedly add about $15 million to Covington’s salary.

Covington is averaging 16 points and 5.8 rebounds per game this season, and shooting a sizzling 50 percent on 3-pointers.
