Blazers sign Goodwin to camp contract

Archie Goodwin will battle for a role in the Blazers backcourt.

Free agent shooting guard Archie Goodwin has agreed to a training camp contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, according to a report from ESPN.

Goodwin, 23, was drafted with the No. 29 overall pick in the 2013 draft and spent his first three NBA seasons with the Phoenix Suns. He played three games for the New Orleans Pelicans and 12 more from the Brooklyn Nets last season.

Starter C.J. McCollum and reserve Pat Connaughton are the other shooting guards on the Portland roster. Veteran swingman Evan Turner also occasionally plays the position.

The Blazers have been seeking a reserve shooter since trading Allen Crabbe to Brooklyn last month.
