It’s finally happened. According to a report from Yahoo Sports, Kawhi Leonard has been traded.
The All-Star forward will be heading to the Toronto Raptors in a package that will return All-Star shooting guard DeMar DeRozan to the San Antonio Spurs.
Shooting guard Danny Green will also be sent from the Spurs to the Raptors, per Yahoo Sports, with big man Jacob Poeltl and a future first-round draft pick headed back to the Spurs.
“Talks between the Spurs and Raptors intensified in recent days,” Yahoo Sports reported, citing sources. “The deal brings Leonard, one of the NBA’s top players when healthy, to Toronto and sends an All-NBA and All-Star caliber player in DeRozan to the Spurs.”
It’s hard to know how well the deal will work, with ESPN reporting Leonard “has no desire” to play in Toronto, and DeRozan posted to his Instagram account that “there’s no loyalty.”

Leonard played in only nine games last season because of a right quadriceps injury. He requested to be traded after the season, naming the Los Angeles Lakers as his preferred destination.
