Veteran guard Jack agrees to camp deal with Pelicans

Veteran NBA point guard Jarrett Jack was among the many players waived over the weekend.

Free-agent point guard Jarrett Jack has agreed to a training camp deal with the New Orleans Pelicans and will compete for a roster spot, according to Shams Charania of Stadium.

Jack, 34, has his work cut out. He appeared in 76 games for the New York Knicks last season, putting up solid averages of 7.5 points and 5.6 assists. But the Pelicans are returning Jrue Holiday and brought in Elfrid Payton. They also return youngster Frank Jackson and recently took a look at Ty Lawson.

Still, it appears Jack will get a real shot to make the team. The well-traveled Jack played for the Pelicans in both the 2011-12 and 2016-17 seasons (though it was just two games in 2016-17).
