The Detroit Pistons agreed to a one-year contract with veteran free-agent center Zaza Pachulia on Sunday.
Pachulia’s presence comes at the expense of backup big man Eric Moreland, who was subsequently waived by the team, according to a Pistons press release.
The 6-foot-10, 238-pound Moreland averaged 2.1 points, 4.2 boards and 1.2 assists in 12.0 minutes a career-high 67 games (3 starts) for Detroit last season. He shot 54.1 percent from the field.
The 26-year-old Moreland, an Oregon State product, was in training camp with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, spending the season with the G League Canton Charge.
He signed a multi-year contract with the Pistons on July 6, 2017.
