Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks because of an injured left thumb, according to the team.
VanVleet has a partially torn ligament in the thumb and will wear a splint for approximately three weeks before it is reevaluated.
The guard suffered the injury during the second quarter of a victory against the New York Knicks on Saturday at Madison Square Garden.
VanFleet is averaging 10.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 26.8 minutes in 51 games (22 starts) this season for the Raptors, shooting 40.3 percent from the field, 36.6 percent from deep and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line.
