The Philadelphia 76ers are expected to finish their investigation on president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo within the next few days and league personnel expect Colangelo to lose his job, according to a report from The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The Ringer published a report citing sources that claim Colangelo has multiple burner Twitter accounts which he uses to criticize players and reveal sensitive team information.
The Inquirer reported that Colangelo was visibly shaken when the news broke while he was in LA attending a workout.
“The only way that he’ll get out of it is if he comes with evidence that somebody set him up,” a league executive told the Inquirer. “If it is out there where they can’t prove either way, I don’t think he’ll keep his job. And if there’s involvement with a family member, it doesn’t look like he has a chance either.”
The probe “has become increasingly focused” on Colangelo’s wife, according to an ESPN report, and staffers are bracing for his dismissal.
