Oklahoma City Thunder forward Carmelo Anthony continues to draw interest from the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat, according to The Washington Post.
Anthony and the Thunder are expected to part ways, via a contract buyout, this offseason. His agent was spotted sitting with a contingent of Rockets’ basketball employees, including head coach Mike D’Antoni, at the Las Vegas Summer League.
D’Antoni coached Anthony during their time together with the New York Knicks. The two didn’t always see eye-to-eye but are said to have put their differences aside.
Anthony is also particularly close with Rockets point guard Chris Paul and Lakers forward LeBron James. Paul is said to already be recruiting Anthony heavily, knowing a split between Anthony and the Thunder is a mere formality.
The Rockets are considered the frontrunners for Anthony, with the Lakers not far behind. League sources suggest the Heat are in the running, but considered a long shot. Anthony is also friends with Dwyane Wade, who could return to the Heat if Anthony is added to the roster.
