The Houston Rockets have waived guard R.J. Hunter, according to a report by Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.

Hunter, a 6-foot-5, 185-pounder, was signed by Houston to a two-way contract in January. He played in five games (1 start) for the Rockets, averaging 9.0 minutes, 3.8 points and 1.0 rebounds, shooting 35.0 percent from the field, 21.4 percent from the 3-point arc and 100 percent (2 of 2) from the free-throw line.
The Oxford, Ohio native, selected with the 28th overall pick in the 2015 draft by the Boston Celtics out of Georgia State, carries career averages of 2.6 points and 1.0 boards, with a shooting line of 36.1/28.2/88.9 in 8.4 minutes in 44 games (1 start).
In addition to Boston (36 games in 2015-16) and Houston, Hunter played three games for the Chicago Bulls in 2016-17.
