Spurs’ Gasol out indefinitely with stress fracture in left foot

Spurs big man Pau Gasol will miss more time with what is said to be a stress fracture.

San Antonio Spurs center/forward Pau Gasol has suffered a stress fracture in his left foot, as reported by Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News.

Gasol has missed the team’s last 12 games after playing in the first nine. He seemingly had been progressing to a return, before the latest setback, as relayed by McDonald.

“He was (back on the court) and then they took him off,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich told reporters Wednesday. “We got a second opinion that it was a stress fracture, so they put him back in the (walking) boot.”

A timetable for Gasol’s return has not been revealed.

Gasol, 38, is averaging 6.8 points and 6.1 rebounds this season.
