The Phoenix Suns have waived shooting guard Wayne Ellington, the team announced in a news release.
Ellington, 31, was acquired in a trade Wednesday with the Miami Heat. Guard Tyler Johnson also came to Phoenix in the deal, which sent forward Ryan Anderson to Miami.
Ellington appeared in 35 games with the Heat and averaged 8.4 points on 38 percent shooting. That included 37 percent on 3-pointers.
The Detroit Pistons will be “one of the most aggressive teams” pursuing Ellington now that’s he available, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
