Health reports eight additional deaths from COVID-19

The Health Department’s Saturday morning report on the pandemic includes eight additional deaths from COVID-19. Of these eight deceased, five were not vaccinated.

With these eight deaths, the total number of deaths during the pandemic on the island has risen to 3,072. The people whose deaths were reported in this morning’s report are six women and two men, ages 49 to 84.

In addition, the agency reported an average of 269 new positive cases between molecular and antigen tests. The total number of new cases between the two tests for today is 324, according to the Puerto Rico Community Health Alliance (COSACO) report.

The cumulative total of confirmed cases in the archipelago is 147,847. Of those, 139,068 people have recovered, according to the health department.

Today, the number of hospitalizations stands at 300. Of the 300 people receiving treatment in the hospital, 23 are minors. There are 83 people in the intensive care unit, including a minor. On a ventilator, there are 63 COVID-19 patients, including one minor.

Currently, Puerto Rico has 2,157,090 people who are eligible to be vaccinated with completed vaccination doses. This puts the vaccination level at 75.7%. The most vaccinated age group is 50 to 59 years. Whereas the age group with the least number of vaccinated people ranges from 12 to 15 years.
