A day after Governor Pedro Berluisi announced the new executive order to manage the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Department of Health is awaiting more than a dozen outbreaks in schools.

As the government’s chief epidemiologist, Melissa Marzan, has explained, everyone is “in a state of conflict.”

“At the moment we have 12 active outbreaks in schools. There are in Caguas, Humacao and other municipalities. They are all in containment,” the official said in an interview with Radio Isla.

The governor indicated yesterday that vaccination for students over the age of 12 will be mandatory, and students between the ages of 5 and 11 will have to take the vaccination face-to-face.
