The Directorate General of Customs The (DGA) has, from December 1 through January 7 2022, a Christmas Grace application to release and exempt all types of import taxes on those gifts that Dominicans residing abroad give into the country to relatives, friends, and related items.
Likewise, it is stated that the cost of gifts in general should not exceed $4000.00, and this limit is the highest Christmas blessing Granted by the General Directorate of Customs in history.
Likewise, the main objective of this initiative is to reward Dominican residents in other countries for their contributions to remittances and at the same time mitigate the economic effects that the pandemic has brought with it. COVID-19 to the world.

“Under the restrictions imposed by airlines on bringing gifts, they will be allowed to be carried by the means deemed appropriate by the passenger, provided that the FOB value of the goods carried does not exceed the specified amount and are not in commercial quantities, only one unit of each type of goods is allowed, especially in the case of household appliances,” he explains. In this sense, to take advantage of this facility, persons residing abroad, consignees of the shipments, must present themselves at Customs departments (Collecturías) corresponding to your passport, purchase invoices, boarding pass and any other document showing that you have not entered the country for more than six (6) months. The procedure will apply as long as the merchandise is entered within the specified Christmas period.
