In pictures, the winners of the International Dog Photography Contest 2022

(CNN Spanish) – Professional, amateur and amateur photographers from different countries participated in the annual Dog Photography Awards, a competition born two years ago that specializes precisely in: taking great pictures of these beautiful animals.

This year already The winners were chosen in four categories: Portrait & Landscape, Studio, Action, and Dogs & People, showcasing the best photos of dogs from around the world riding their skills.

The winners of the 2023 Dog Photography Awards will receive prizes of up to €2,000 (about $2,200) as well as recognition in various media, according to the competition website, which for this edition received more than 1,400 submissions from participants from more than 50 countries.

Winner: Avalanche Rescue Dog

Photographer Dalia Vishan was the first-place winner in this category with a photo showing one of her rescue dogs from an avalanche in Melchsee-Frut, Switzerland being “rescued” as she crouched under an ice cave to capture the moment.

The photographer wrote: “The moment the snow cover breaks, the first ray of light penetrates the cave, the paws dig into the snow and the dog’s muzzle sniffs you, it’s a wonderful moment.”

2nd place: Amber, my Dalmatian

Sophia Hutchinson, the runner-up in the category, says this photo is extra special because it was the first time she was able to walk her dog Amber since she had surgery on her legs. “It fills me with emotion to see her so independent and so captivated by the beauty of nature and wildlife,” Hutchinson wrote.

Third place: Greenland dogs

According to the competition website, photographer Joanne Liu shows a dog in Greenland in this photo. They are animals used in Greenland as sled dogs that behave in this picture in their natural habitat on land provided to them by the government.

“Kids up to 6 months old can roam freely socializing and are friendly and playful. Adults are chained and kept apart. Housing and veterinary care provided by the government,” the photo explains.
