Jose Ignacio Baleza has been appointed Minister of the Presidency, replacing Joel Santos.

President Luis Abinader announced the appointment of José Ignacio Baleza as the new Minister of the Presidency, succeeding Joel Santos.

In another announcement, via his social network WhatsApp, the president indicated that Joel Santos will take over as Minister of Energy and Mines, succeeding Antonio Almonte.

Since taking leave in January of this year to support Louis Abinader's campaign, Baleza He was without jobs within the government.Prior to that, he held the position of Administrative Minister at the Presidency of the Republic since August 16, 2020.

“I have requested leave from the functions I perform at @maprerd to devote all my attention to the campaign of comrade @luisabinader. May victory succeed us!”, the president of the Modern Revolutionary Party also posted, in a message on his X account.

Joel Santos has been serving as Secretary of the Presidency since July 2022.

The President announced this Thursday the appointment of Mayor Kelvin Cruz as Minister of Sports; the ratification of the positions of Hector Valdez Albizu and Clarissa de la Rocha, respectively Governor and Vice Governor of the Central Bank, and Alejandro Fernández Whipple who will continue as Supervisor of Banks.
