A space for the memory of the deported

Students from Andreu Sempere, Mayor of Alcoy, President of Amical and other political representatives.

In the framework of the III Trobada de Joves de la Xarxa de Memòria i Prevenció del feixisme “Mai Més”, coinciding with Human Rights Day, El lloc de Memòria was inaugurated yesterday in Cervantes Park, with a tribute to the 23 deported from Alcoy, who passed through the concentration camps Nazism at Mauthausen-Gossen and Dachau.

First-year high school students at Andreu Sempere read a short biography of the people honored, whose names appear on the back panels in the photo.

At the event, the descendants of some of the deportees were present, as well as the citizens in general, members of the municipal body of the Alcoy City Council, headed by the mayor, Tony Francis, as well as the president of Amical, Juan Calvo and other political representatives.

And they all agreed that this remembrance should not be forgotten and kept in mind so that those vile events would not happen again, and they prayed for freedom, a very precious asset, taken from the honored and many others.
