Tottenham have held talks with Barca but are also continuing to sign Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest.
Fati, 20, is open to a season-long loan move to the Premier League side, maintaining his link with Barca, but nothing has yet been finalized ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
It marks a dramatic shift from Fathy, who was previously reluctant to leave the Catalan club despite pressure from elsewhere this summer.
Barça, his agent, Jorge Mendes, and his father, Bori, pressured him to spend a year elsewhere so he could continue playing football.
Spurs and Chelsea have both been linked with Fati this week, but Brighton, coached by Roberto de Gerby, emerged as favorites to complete a deal on Wednesday.
Fati has appeared on the bench in Barca’s first three games of the season and has struggled to secure a regular place in Xavi Hernandez’s side as he recovers from multiple injuries ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Speaking earlier this summer, Felix said he would like to join Barca, who will look for a striker before Friday if Fati leaves after losing Ousmane Dembéle to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.
