As the lava advances from the Gumbre Viza volcano they are ordered to leave La Palma.
(CNN) – Authorities ordered the evacuation of two cities on the Spanish island of La Palma on Wednesday night.
The Canary Islands emergency services, late Wednesday in tweets, said the relocation order affected “40 to 50 homes” in various neighborhoods in the cities of Dassault and Los Lanos de Ariden.
La Palma Island Council tweeted on Thursday that residents of the affected neighborhoods could return with authorities to quickly dispose of their belongings.
This is a recurring scene since the eruption of Cumbria Viza on September 19, which has forced the evacuation of more than 6,000 people to date.
Authorities say the volcano destroyed 807 hectares of land and a quarter of agricultural land, destroying more than 1,950 homes.
