The line will finance investments in science, technology and innovation (CTeI) projects, specifically in the bioeconomic sector, Which includes the areas of: biodiversity and ecosystem services that refer to the use of the continental ecosystem for sustainable development; Columbia Biointelligent, which seeks intelligent use of nature’s genes; productive and sustainable agriculture, which bets on agriculture that rebuilds the social fabric; Biomass and green chemistry to mix 100% biomass with 100% profitability, generating greater value for the productive sector; Finally, health and wellness, which promotes the use of advanced technologies to generate scientific and technological independence in the country.

Those bioeconomics projects that use inputs of biological origin will be considered (plants, any of their parts or plant extracts; animals or parts of them; algae; micro-organisms and residues: agricultural, food, forestry), genetic material, proteins; and those that generate services or products such as natural ingredients, active compounds, bioplastics, biomaterials, vaccines, new foods, functional foods, bioenergy, and bio-inputs, among others.
Companies will be able to access maximum amounts of up to $2000 million to fund CTeI projects in the bioeconomy. The credits can be used to cover working capital and modernization expenses such as investment in equipment, technology and other fixed assets needed to develop research, development and innovation projects.
“This credit solution will benefit companies of all sizes interested in developing projects in the areas of science, technology and innovation, including financing the technology needed to develop initiatives that make use of natural or biological resources, such as, for example, the use of soybeans or palms to generate formulations cosmetic or biofuels,” said Javier Diaz Fajardo, President of Bancóldex.
