Elon Musk denies his relationship with the wife of Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google | world News

Elon Musk has denied reports that he had a brief affair with the wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nicole Shanahan.

The Tesla and SpaceX chief said on Twitter that there was “nothing romantic” between him and Ms Shanahan, adding that he and Brin were still friends.

Mr. Musk’s tweets follow a report in the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) citing anonymous sources that he had a brief affair with Ms. Shanahan.

The newspaper said the case prompted Mr. Breen to file for divorce from Shanahan earlier this year and ended the longstanding friendship between tech billionaires.

Musk responded to a tweet about the story on Twitter, adding that it was “Total PS.”

Tesla and Google, its parent company Alphabet, did not immediately respond to requests for comment, and neither Brin nor Shanahan was immediately available for comment.

Breen’s lawyer declined to comment to the Wall Street Journal, and Shanahan did not respond to the newspaper’s requests for comment.

Citing records that Mr Breen filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences,” the newspaper said, citing records it said were filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court.

Reuters was unable to independently determine whether the divorce papers were filed.

The Wall Street Journal also said in its report that Mr. Breen instructed his advisors to sell personal investments in Musk’s companies after learning about the case.

The newspaper said it was not able to determine the size of these investments, nor whether any sales were made.
