Free agent point guard Patrick Beverley is drawing interest from the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls and the incumbent Los Angeles Clippers, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN.
Beverley is seeking a three-year contract worth $40 million, MacMahon added.
Beverley’s agent Bill Duffy, also represents reigning Rookie of the Year Luka Doncic of the Mavericks, “and is known to be intrigued by idea of pairing bulldog Beverley with the young playmaker,” MacMahon reported.
Beverley turns 31 next month. He averaged 7.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 76 regular-season games and is a gritty, relentless defender. Teams will likely see how the market unfolds before signing players such as Beverley, though it’s also possible he may get the deal he seeks right away.
The NBA free agency period begins Sunday evening.
