    MICIU has launched a new call worth €40 million to promote innovative health projects between Spanish and foreign companies

    The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU) launched for the first time the multi-country call, which secured €40 million in European funds from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan to strengthen the scientific and technological capacities of Spanish companies in the field of health sector R&D and to encourage innovative projects in collaboration with foreign actors.

    This call, managed by the Center for Technology Development and Innovation (CDTI), is part of Vanguard Health's PERTE (Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation).

    Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana MorantHe stressed that the goal of this call is “to protect people’s health, and to promote innovative products, procedures and digital solutions to prevent, diagnose, treat or rehabilitate patients in a personalized way.”

    The minister said: “The government has an unprecedented commitment to the health of citizens through research and innovation, which are the great hope for treating diseases.”

    Specifically, the call will fund research and development projects to advance significant medical advances in therapeutic areas that help improve patients' health and quality of care.

    It also aims to improve digitalization and robotics in the Spanish health sector, including diagnostics and treatment processes, as well as to strengthen the strategic independence of the European Union, by developing innovative production processes throughout the entire supply chain.

    Likewise, this call seeks to contribute to building a more resilient industrial ecosystem in the face of potential health crises, at national and European level.
