Free agent shooting guard Stauskas reaches deal in Spain

Free agent shooting guard Nik Stauskas appeared in 24 games with the Cavaliers last season.

Free agent guard Nik Stauskas has agreed to a contract with Spanish club Baskonia, as first reported by Lithuanian basketball journalist Donatas Urbonas.

Stauskas, 25, is 6-foot-6 and reportedly also had standing offers from Real Madrid and Valencia, also of Spain.

Stauskas finished last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers after several midseason trades that started with the Portland Trail Blazers. He averaged 6.1 points and shot a career-high 42 percent in 44 games with the Blazers.

With the Cavs, Stauskas appeared in 24 games and averaged 5.5 points.

He was drafted by the Sacramento Kings with the No. 8 overall pick in 2014, and has also spent time with the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets.

Along with guard Wade Baldwin IV, Stauskas was traded three times during the past season — from the Blazers to the Cavs, then from the Cavs to the Rockets, then from the Rockets to the Indiana Pacers.

The Cavs eventually signed Stauskus on Feb. 11 after he was immediately waived by the Pacers
