Confinement and change in routine put people’s lifestyle under control. Now, a study by the Red Iberoamérica Pleokinetic, comparing the physical and mental health of residents in Chile, Spain and Mexico, has warned of the effects on people’s health as a result of confinement.
This research, published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, showed that Chile has the highest proportion of people who are sedentary per day and those who do the least physical activity per week.
Sitting time went from 4 to 5 hours up to 8 to 9 hours a day.
The academician from the University of La Frontera, Dr. Pedro Delgado Flodi commented on third, “They are people who logically begin in a short time to develop cardiovascular risk factors as well as increase the burden of chronic disease.”
It is also added that Chileans drink the least amount of water, a figure that comes to less than two cups a day, when the recommendation is four.
The expert added: “The problem that occurs and that we envision is how this will affect in the long run, because skeletal muscles coordinate with other organs to regulate energy issues and this will not affect not only now but in the future.”
