The Indian variant of dual mutation is in the United Kingdom
(CNN) –According to the latest figures from the Public Health UK (PHE), there are currently 77 positive cases of the new Indian variant of Kovit-19 in the UK.
A PHE spokesman told CNN that there were 73 cases in the UK and four in the double mutation variant in Scotland. Variation B.1.617 was first detected in India.
According to the Indian Ministry of Health, such mutations can increase the risk of infection and help the immune system escape.
This variant has been designated as Variant Under Investigation (VUI) by PHE. Better communication tracking will be done and all steps will be taken accordingly, he said.
Currently, the UK variant (p.1.1.7) dominates the country with 209,492 confirmed cases. However, the percentage of people testing positive in the country is declining, the Office for National Statistics said on Friday.
