The Science Fiction Short Story Competition is in its third edition

With the aim of promoting the production of literary discourses that address the dialogue between the world’s environments and their societies, Liberation Foundation “The Dog and the Frog” Opens invitation for the third edition of Youth Science Fiction Story Competition “TOPARQUÍA”.

Concept summit It appears for the first time in one of the surviving texts of Simon Rodriguezthere explains that the American, Republican, and Federal concept embedded in a general or national fabric of power, refers to a press release issued by the Department of Culture.

In the previous edition of the competition, the winning story was Krukumi and the boomerang effect by Oswaldo Barrero Pérez, a text that was part of the editorial novelties presented by El Perro y la rana during The 17th International Book Fair in Venezuela (Felvin 2021).

Competition rules:

  1. All Venezuelans and foreigners residing in the country may participate.
  2. Submitted stories must be unpublished in any form (print or digital). Those works that participate in other contests or are awaiting publication will be disregarded.
  3. Each participant can submit only one story to the contest.
  4. Stories must be submitted in Spanish. The bilingual option for the participant’s story is reserved for those works whose authorship belongs to our indigenous peoples.
  5. Texts will be a minimum length of seven (7) pages and a maximum of thirty (30), A4 format, Arial font, 12 points, 1.5 cm line spacing.
  6. If selected by the jury, participants will transfer the copyright for the first edition of their stories to Fundación Editorial El perro y la rana.
  7. Projects should be sent to the following email address: [email protected] with the name Toparquía Science Fiction Story Contest in the subject of the email, with the files detailed below attached:

– A DOC or DOT file specified with the title of the story and containing the shared story(s) and a pseudonym.

– A file in DOC or DOT format identified with the word “Data” and with the following information: story title, name(s) and surname(s), address of residence, nationality, date of birth, identity card or passport number, phone number(s) and e-mail of the participant.

From the award ceremony:

  1. A prize of $500 (the equivalent in bolivars) will be awarded to the first-place story, as well as the printed publication.
  2. The jury may recommend special mention and publication of stories that have not been selected as winners.
  3. The jury will consist of three (3) people with writing experience. His decision will be non-appealable.
  4. The ruling will be announced in public law and published on the website of the Fundación Editorial El perro y la rana on August 1, 2022.
  5. Contest may be declared void.
  6. Previous winners of this call will not be able to participate.
  7. Participation in the competition implies full acceptance of these rules.
  8.
