The first specialized mental health hospital in North Macorette (formerly Craempt) in the region of Castilla has been renovated with an innovative model of mental and emotional health care, by order of the Hospital of San Juan de Dios in the region of Piura.
“Hospital San Juan de Dios in Piura implements a medical approach that is scientific in accordance with the times. With the redesign of the facilities – new hospital suites that differ by gender, large car parking, day center and psychosocial rehabilitation – which guarantees comfort, privacy and security for users”, explained Director field of psychiatry Diego Nera.

Similarly, Diego Nera explained that the hospital focuses its efforts on constantly training its medical staff, helping with quality of care, bioethics, and comprehensive treatment in mental and cognitive health, as its hallmark. “Thanks to our specialization, we are even a benchmark in training future medical professionals (college students of medicine and nursing) interested in this health field,” said the medical director.
The specialty hospital has a team of professionals made up of specialists in psychiatry, psychology and occupational therapists, all of whom specialize in mental health and addiction. From the outpatient clinic, a multidisciplinary approach is carried out for children, adolescents, adults and the elderly of both sexes and any social status. The institution offers services in psychiatry, addiction program, psychology, hospitalization, specialized pharmacy, psychosocial rehabilitation, Training and qualification.
Likewise, thanks to the agreement with the Regional Directorate of Education and UGEL Piura, the San Juan de Dios Specialist Hospital is working to rehabilitate its patients with the support of teachers trained in professional techniques and workshops (baking, handicrafts, gardening, weaving manufacturing and handicrafts).
