The New Orleans Pelicans reportedly engaged in discussions with the Sacramento Kings centered around trading for DeMarcus Cousins.

This came as news to Cousins’ agent, per Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

“As far as we’re concerned, nothing has changed,” Akana told The Vertical.

Wojnarowski wasn’t the only one reporting on the talks, which were said to involve Buddy Hield, multiple Pelicans’ first-round draft picks, and just about any player not named Anthony Davis.

Update: More gas was poured onto the fire later Sunday night, as Wojnarowski reported the talks were alive and well.

ESPN’s Marc Stein added further insight into the situation.

It doesn’t sound like Cousins is thrilled about the idea of being traded.

For what it’s worth, the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics appear to be out of the running for Cousins, but the way this story is going, it wouldn’t be wise to rule either possibility out completely.

We’ll continue to update this story as more details emerge.
