Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley continues to be out with left heel and Achilles soreness but is making progress and expected to return in two to three weeks — according to the team.
The Grizzlies announced two weeks ago that Conley would undergo therapy and treatment to help promote healing and alleviate soreness in his heel and Achilles.
Per the Grizzlies’ press release: “Conley has progressed well through therapy and treatment to promote healing and alleviate soreness in his left heel and Achilles. He is expected to return in two to three weeks.”
Conley, 30, is averaging 17.1 points and 4.1 assists on the season but has struggled with his shot (38.1 percent) and lateral movement due to the lower leg ailments.
The Grizzlies have sorely missed Conley, as they are 0-6 since he’s been out. Head coach David Fizdale was fired Monday after Sunday’s loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Fizdale benched star big man Marc Gasol in the fourth quarter and the two reportedly had a strained relationship.
Entering tonight on an eight-game losing streak, Memphis (7-12) will look to get back in the win column against the San Antonio Spurs (13-7).
