A quick look at the top performers from Wednesday’s preseason action.
Celtics 108, Hornets 100
Kyrie Irving scored 16 points, Al Horford had 15 on 6-of-7 shooting and the Celtics held on for a win.
Rookie Jayson Tatum started and compiled eight points and five rebounds in 23 minutes.
For the Hornets, rookie guard Malik Monk erupted for 21 points off the bench.
Sixers 133, Nets 114
Dario Saric scored 26 points and Joel Embiid went for 22, as the healthy 76ers rolled the Nets.
Ben Simmons added nine points, eight rebounds and six assists. Markelle Fultz, meanwhile, did not play.
D’Angelo Russell scored 24 points for the Nets, and Caris LeVert added 16.
Heat 117, Wizards 115
Rookie forward Bam Adebayo scored 15 points in a game of mostly reserves to lead the Heat.
Tyler Johnson added 14 and Josh Richardson had 13.
The Wizards received a game-high 20 points from Jason Smith.
Rockets 101, Grizzlies 89
James Harden overcame a 2-of-13 shooting night (including 0-of-8 on 3-pointers) by making 14-of-15 from the free-throw line to score 18 points.
Trevor Ariza added 16 points for the Rockets.
Andrew Harrison scored 17 points to lead the Grizzlies. Marc Gasol and Mario Chalmers tacked on 12 apiece.
Trail Blazers 113, Suns 104
Myles Leonard led a balanced Blazers scoring attack with 17 points off the bench.
Rookie center Zach Collins started and finished with eight points and five rebounds in 30 minutes. Damian Lillard added 13 points.
Suns rookie forward Josh Jackson played 40 minutes and compiled 22 points and nine boards.
Under-the-radar point guard Mike James added 19 points in reserve.
