Celtics officially ink undrafted guard Dixon

Daniel Dixon paved the way for William & Mary last season.

The Boston Celtics have signed free agent guard Daniel Dixon, the team announced in a press release.

Dixon went undrafted out of William & Mary and his signing was initially reported by CelticsBlog back in August.

“Dixon is an extreme longshot to make the Celtics roster,” CelticsBlog reported. “This signing is instead part of the process to fill out the roster for the Maine Red Claws in the NBA G-League.”

The website continued, “When a player’s NBAGL rights are not owned by an NBAGL team, they are eligible to be an Affiliate Player. Affiliate Players are players who attended camp/preseason with an NBA club, but were waived before the start of the season.”

Dixon is 6-foot-5 and averaged 19.2 points and 4.7 rebounds last season with the Tribe.
