Miller: Kyrie ‘definitely interested’ in Denver

NBA free agent swingman Mike Miller implied Cavaliers star Kyrie Irving wouldn't mind a trade to the Nuggets.

The Denver Nuggets are expected to call the Cleveland Cavaliers to express their interest in trading for guard Kyrie Irving, and longtime sharpshooter Mike Miller thinks Irving and Denver are a good fit.

Appearing on Altitude Radio Wednesday, Miller was asked by the hosts whether Irving would consider playing for the Nuggets.

Miller, who was teammates with Irving for one season in Cleveland, says the All-Star guard is “definitely interested” in playing in the Mile-High City.

Via Altitude Sports 950:

“I’ve already asked that question. I don’t know if I can give you the answer but I’ve already asked that question. I think he will. I really do. Like anything else, when people look at cities, Denver’s an unbelievable city we all know that. And with what the organization has built there, he would be crazy not to and he’s definitely, definitely interested in it and I told him by putting this thing out there he has no choice.”

Irving, of course, requested a trade from the Cavs, as he wants to escape the shadow of LeBron James and be more of a focal point on offense.

Cleveland is reportedly looking to trade Irving for a blue-chip young player and one or two veterans who can contribute right away.

If the Cavs and Nuggets want to make a deal work, it would likely need to involve Denver guards Jamal Murray and Gary Harris, along with small forward Wilson Chandler and a future draft pick.

Cleveland would get two young athletic playmakers with three-point range in Murray and Harris, and a solid veteran in Chandler who can be a stout wing defender and reliable spot up shooter.

That would be a nice haul for Irving, but there’s no rush in trading him right now.

The Cavs are said to be talking to a handful of teams about Irving, and since he doesn’t possess a no-trade clause, Cleveland’s brass can sit back and wait for the best offer to present itself.
