Gay headed for Spurs on two-year deal

Rudy Gay is reportedly headed to the San Antonio Spurs.

Versatile swingman Rudy Gay is finally leaving Sacramento, as he has signed a two-year, $17 million-plus deal with the San Antonio Spurs, according to a report by ESPN.

The Spurs made the announcement of Gay’s signing official, though they did not release terms of the deal.

Gay is currently recovering from a torn Achilles he suffered in January. He picked the Spurs for a chance to compete for a championship, something that wasn’t going to be possible in Sacramento.

Gay is a proven scorer in this league, averaging 18.4 points per game in his 13-year career. His athleticism is still off the charts and he can create his own shot off the dribble, something every team in the NBA needs from their wing players.

Gay and Kawhi Leonard give the Spurs two athletic forwards who can get out in transition and finish at the rim with ease.
