The San Antonio Spurs have zero interest in Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball, according to a report from Yahoo Sports.
The Spurs don’t want to deal with the circus that Ball brings with him, particular Ball’s outspoken father, LaVar Ball.
San Antonio star Kawhi Leonard has reportedly demanded a trade from the organization and has the Lakers as his preferred destination. Leonard has one year left on his contract and will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2019.
The Lakers could create a package consisted of Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and draft picks for Leonard. That might be the best deal the Spurs can get, as other teams interested in trading for Leonard will likely low ball San Antonio since Leonard can walk in 2019 and has made it clear he wants to be in Los Angeles.
The Spurs are under no obligation to send Leonard where he wants to go. Gregg Popovich will likely want to trade Leonard to the Eastern Conference so he doesn’t have to deal with the two-time Defensive Player of the Year.
The Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers are expected to pursue a Leonard trade as well.
