No. 1 overall draft pick Deandre Ayton and the Phoenix Suns will open training camp at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, the team announced in a press release.
The Suns will practice at NAU from Sept. 25-28 before returning to Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix for an open scrimmage. This marks the sixth straight season they will hold camp at NAU and 22nd overall.
The Suns finished a league-worst 21-61 last year, before winning the draft lottery and selecting former Arizona center Ayton with the first pick. Ayton joins a growing list of younger intriguing players that also includes shooting guard Devin Booker and forward Josh Jackson.
Phoenix opens the season Oct. 17 at home against the Dallas Mavericks.
