NBA Season Preview: Memphis Grizzlies

Tony Allen and the Grizzlies look to bounce back after an injury-marred season.

Camp Location: Grizzlies Training Facility, Memphis

Coach: David Fizdale, first year.

Last Season: 42-40, lost to San Antonio in first round of playoffs.

Key Returnees: Mike Conley, Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, Tony Allen, Jordan Adams, Vince Carter, Brandan Wright, JaMychal Green, Jarell Martin.

Key Additions: Chandler Parsons (Dallas), James Ennis (New Orleans), Tony Wroten (New York), Wade Baldwin (rookie, Vanderbilt), Troy Daniels (Charlotte), Deyonta Davis (rookie, Michigan State), Andrew Harrison (D-League), Wayne Selden (rookie, Kansas), DJ Stephens (D-League), Troy Williams (rookie, Indiana University).

Key Losses: Matt Barnes (Sacramento), Chris Andersen (Cleveland), Lance Stephenson (New Orleans), Bryce Cotton (Turkey), Jordan Farmar (Sacramento), Xavier Munford (free agent).

Outlook: The Grizzlies changed coaches, overpaid Mike Conley, added Chandler Parsons and hope Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph can return to the way things used to be. What will it all mean? Well, there’s something to be said for the continuity of Conley, Gasol, Randolph and Tony Allen. And it certainly has to be better than last season’s revolving door of players trying to replace the injured nucleus. Basically, after last year, the Grizzlies are hard to predict. But we all know that when healthy, they’re a team worth watching.
