Honduras became the fourth country since 2018 to move its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, where diplomatic representation is already operating. Prior to the ceremony, which was attended by President Juan Orlando Hernandez and Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, the foreign ministers of the two countries signed memoranda of understanding on cooperation in the areas of agriculture, water, health, education and innovation.

“This embassy and this president, along with the people of Honduras, are committed to continuing to deepen the relationship with Israel,” Hernandez said. “After leaving my post in January 2022, I will continue to use my voice to support Israel, both within Honduras and internationally,” he added.
