Honduras became the fourth country since 2018 to move its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, where diplomatic representation is already operating. With the release of white balloons, the inauguration of the new headquarters of the Katracha Embassy, located in the western part of the city, was celebrated.
Prior to the ceremony, which was attended by President Juan Orlando Hernandez and Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, the foreign ministers of the two countries signed memoranda of understanding on cooperation in the areas of agriculture, water, health, education and innovation.

At the ceremony, according to a statement from the Honduran Presidential House, Hernandez called on Israeli businessmen to invest in Honduras “because our land is fertile” and took the opportunity to expose the security progress.
“This embassy and this president, along with the people of Honduras, are committed to continuing to deepen the relationship with Israel,” Hernandez said. “After leaving my post in January 2022, I will continue to use my voice to support Israel, both within Honduras and internationally,” he added.
