Maria Elena opens a space for tourism management

In Maria Elena, the first Tourism Management Office of the Saltpeter Museum was opened, which will serve as a destination tourism coordination space, where tourism providers and municipal tourism agents will be able to operate.

In addition to being a place that tourists can access to get information about the attractions and activities that can be done in the destination, it strives to be an operational center for the tourism development of the destination, being a suitable space for promoting sustainable and responsible tourism.

The main beneficiaries of this initiative are mainly people who work in tourism in the Maria Elena region, who will be able to use it as a meeting place for their tourists, the specialization of their products, the spread of tourist routes, among other activities.

The office is responsible for the area of ​​tourism management in Fundación Turismo Sustentable, however, collaborative management is expected with tourism service providers and agents in this area.

Carolina Elgueta, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Sustainable Tourism Foundation, highlighted the following: “We are very pleased with this inauguration. Grateful to the municipality and the private sector, who believed in our institution and were heroes in this process along with the community. It is a milestone for Maria Elena that allows us to position this region for tourism through a close relationship with Tourism Providers and Agents.

While, Pablo Pisani, Director of Communications, Sustainability and Public Affairs at SQM, stated: “As a company, we are very committed to the work of the Sustainable Tourism Foundation, which is why we have validated our interest in continuing to move forward together to achieve new milestones like this opening. Appreciating the history and emblematic places of this municipality also responds to the sustainable development of the municipality hand in hand. Together with its neighbors, which we will continue to strengthen.”

During the opening ceremony, Irina Salgado, Regional Director of Senator, he emphasized: “Tourism is being developed side by side with the private world, with companies in the region and quality certificates, which is why today we offer 2 stamps to operators in the region. Only 4 destinations in our region have an office: San Pedro de Atacama, Antofagasta, Calama and Maria Elena, which is A great achievement resulting from you and the collaborative work of all productive sectors.”

In this sense, this initiative was implemented thanks to the participation of the SQM Community Area and the Tourist District of the local municipality and the management of Fundación Turismo Sustentable.

The operation of the office is related to the museum’s working hours from Monday to Thursday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and on Fridays from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. From 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
